Bush Survival Course

Fri 16-18 April 2021, Karrakup/Jarrahdale, WA.

FREE Survival Kit if you sign up before 28 Feb 2021. See in Pricing Section.

What to expect from the weekend.

Survival skills could one day save a life.

How long would we last if we were taken out of our city-slicker 'everything is provided in exchange for a card swipe' setting and put in the Australian Bush?

We have lost connection to nature.

Wild Cleanse invites you to re-connect with Mother Earth. Learn how to build your own shelter, light fires, sharpen tools, collect water, find food (base rations provided) and re-connect with some fun humans who want to do the same. In this, we may just find ourselves in the raw and develop a better understanding of our place in our community and in the universe. One day your skills could possibly save a life of a family, friend or a complete stranger.

INTRO SESSION: There is a 3 hour introductory session that would be advisable to attend prior to the weekend course.  18 Mar 2021; 530pm start. See information below or click here.

Terry is an Order of Australia medalist (OAM) for service to adventure tourism and charities. He has served 12 years in the military of which 10+ years in the Special Air Service Regiment (SAS). He has a Commendation for Bravery (CDFS - Military). Regards survival training in the SAS, Terry provided training whilst in the Regiment, and ran for 16 years a survival course at TAFE that also included mining groups as clients.

Operational support will be provided by WA's leading adventure company, Adventure Out (AO). AO have been taking people on extreme adventures since 1984. Besides being Perth's leading Outdoor Rock Climbing tour provider, they are the ones who make WA's highest Bridge Swing (Mandurah) and Highest Abseil (QV1/Urban Descent) possible.

While Manu has known Terry Hewett for longer, exactly two years ago, Manu did a Rock Climbing Anchoring and Rescue training course with Adventure Out and Terry. Really impressed by his breadth of knowledge, ability to connect with people and his thrilling adventure stories.

FAQ

Do I need any experience to join?

No. Just come with an open mind. A basic level of fitness is required for all Wild Cleanse events.

Accommodation

We will build our own shelters from available trees/shrubs and some provided materials. Only bring a sleeping bag. If coming late, we can organise something easier to setup.

Toilets, Water, Shower

Drinking water is available but will be rationed. No showers; please bring a solar shower bag if you want to have one.

A portable chemical toilet and a pit toilet will be dug. In addition, there is a toilet and a shower in the main house 300m away.

Can I come alone?

75% of people at our retreats have come on their own. In general, we seem to attract a young-ish (20's-40's), single crowd. We understand the apprehensions of solo travelers and will do our best to ensure you have a safe and fun experience.

What should I bring?

A list will be provided to all attendees. In short, not much! A blunt knife, sleeping bag, torch, sunscreen and repellent are the most basic things required.

How do I get there?

A map with the location will be sent out closer to the date. 1 hour drive from Perth. Plenty of parking. Please car pool if possible via our Facebook event post on this topic.

Pets

We know how attached you are to your pets. However, they may attack or scare the native wildlife. So in general no pets but we will make exceptions on a case by case basis. Please ask.

Please bring a blunt knife; this is your most valuable tool in a survival situation.
